Version released: 5.0.7
Date: April 3rd, 2015
Update Type: Non-critical Maintenance + Feature Update
Today marks yet another release of the 5.0 series, Version 5.0.7.
This version update addresses a few issues such as « on a few installations, shortcodes.php error is displayed », the « scrolling jquery error » and the « parent menu item being inserted into the mobile sublevel menus » – along with a variety of tweaks to the CSS to improve the look and feel of KingSize WordPress in various areas. There are also a few new features we’d like to introduce, such as Lazyloader!
IMPORTANT that you remember to BACKUP FIRST before you update!
We cannot be held responsible for any issues. If there are issues, we encourage a backup for safe keep.
That being said, updating your version of KingSize WordPress should be relatively simple and straightforward.
Using an FTP program of your choice (ie., FileZilla it’s free!) log into your hosting environment.
Navigate to your WordPress installation and find « /wp-content/themes/ » and inside it « /kingsize/ ».
Assuming you’ve downloaded the updated version, you want to open the folder you downloaded (from Themeforest) and navigate to:
DESKTOP -> KingSize WordPress 5.0.7 -> Template Files -> 1. Version 5.0.7 (NEW)
Inside this folder you will find two folders labeled as « kingsize« . One is zipped, the other is not.
It’s quicker to upload the zipped version but also requires you taking additional steps such as logging into your hosting account control panel, going to File Manager and then locating that zipped folder you’ve uploaded and then extract it to overwrite the existing « /kingsize/ » folder. The already extracted folder on your desktop can be uploaded to overwrite the existing folder in your « /themes/ » directory but will take longer to overwrite those individual files. The method preferred is up to you.
Once you’ve overwritten that existing « /kingsize/ » folder you should now be running the latest version.
To confirm, log into your WordPress Dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes and check the screenshot version.
Note: If you’ve a caching plugin installed, be sure to clear the cache after updating.

Here are some explanations to the bugs and issues that were addressed in this update:

There were some added translatable words in the language file that when translated broke theme functionality due to them being core theme related. | RESOLVED |
Portfolio post titles would not properly translate due to method used to call post title. | RESOLVED |
Video embed image thumbnails would not always display properly. | RESOLVED |
There were concerns reported about the load time of Galleries and Portfolios.
This was primarily due to the thumbnails being shown at fullsize in preview.
We have resized the default size of both Portfolio and Gallery images to use a maximum 400×250.
At no time (desktop, tablet, mobile) are thumbnails larger than these dimensions.
As a result, it was unnecessary to have them using such large sizes so we’ve optimized these.
When viewing the images in lightbox (clicking the thumbnail) it will open the actual image (default size).
This change alone has improved the page load significantly.
We apologize to any of our buyers whom this may have inconvenienced. It has now been resolved!
KingSize WordPress is intended to be a heavy image theme as it’s directed towards Gallery/Portfolio use.
One concern we’ve seen by some buyers (and often due to their hosting environment) is load / speed concerns.
We can agree that in some scenarios, when using lots of images in a single page, page load is unbearable.
For these users, we have implemented a LazyLoader script that is by default disabled.
To enable this, go to your Dashboard « Appearance > Theme Options > Gallery / Portfolio ».
Scroll down and you’ll find an option to « Enable / Disable Image Lazyloader » (disabled by default).
Once enabled, it will automatically be applied to any pages/posts that are using Galleries or Portfolios.
The LazyLoader can be used at anytime and will drastically improve on the page load time.
In attempt to better the load and performance of KingSize WordPress, we’re removing unnecessary images.
The blog « Calendar » and « Comments » icons have been replaced with FontAwesome instead.
This has been applied to all areas using the icons, such as post loops, single posts and the portfolio.
This allows us to keep a consistent look and feel with the previously added FontAwesome (v5.0.6) social icons.
